Lonliness

Lonliness

A Poem by OctoberDawn
"

The title says it all...

"

Far into the night when all other sounds have faded

A rhythm still persists that marks the aging of the hour

Tis' not the ticking clock that draws him closer to the grave

but a heart that beats alone when thoughts come crashing like a wave

Moonlight fails to warm the chill that midnight carries on

and hope perpetuates the pain of holding only shadows in the dark

Youth is not eternal and death; no stranger to our mind

but a heart that beats for ours alone is much more difficult to find.
