Whispers In the WindA Poem by OctoberDawnA sonnet dedicated to those who have lost someone close to them but despite the sadness, still feel the presence of the loved one lingering, and protecting them.Laid in white beneath the October earth Memories are all that we can preserve Life flees our lips from the day of our birth Eternity waits; the fate we deserve These thoughts in my mind as pine meets the dust A beautiful voice now forever hushed A pennance perhaps, however unjust The pale cheek I kiss no longer is flushed Itinerant I am without her touch A shadowless soul through earth I now trudge As the eclipsed sun hides I am as such For crimes of this lifetime who is the judge? On shrill autumn nights she still sings to me I lean in the wind; her voice in the breeze © 2012 OctoberDawnFeatured Review
