ThunderstormA Poem by Al R. ArceTo my wife, for Valentine's DayYou’re the thunderstorm that soars above me Wreaking havoc, turning everything inside out Yet when I’m on edge, you give me a smile, a tear, a look Through the clouds I see the frail, tender, loving you I’m bewildered by your turns, taking me in and out of doubt Though darkness, I always find my north in thee
The stupidity of my inertia has caused us so much Missing you is my torture and my only escape Clinging to each other thru this rainfall That tries to wash away who we are Despite time lasting forever Preserving this detachment thru it all Trying to erase the memory of who we are
Washing my soul, charging my
heartbeat You sooth me with your touch,
voice and presence With the clouds I feel your love, your essence You amaze me with your plays, all your feats Against the odds you’ve stuck with me
At the thought of all the pain I’ve caused you Missing you deafens me in absolute silence Believing in us regardless of the weather That tries to sink what little we have left Despite the seasons erasing all the signs That long ago brought us together Trying to put our vows under arrest
You keep me alive with lightning, twisters and hail Within your clouds I fear no mistake To find my way back to your embrace © 2015 Al R. ArceReviews
