Free!

Free!

A Poem by Al R. Arce
"

Are we really free?

"
I wish I'd be free!
Free from this madness we live in
Where people play judge in,
Everything and anything
And we must not be ourselves
'Cause others we might offend.
If I can't be me, then I'm really not free!

Why can't I be free?
If I don't have money to do what I'm capable to do,
To not have my future truncated by no funds
No credit or merit...
And they can't accept me
'Cause a lawyer might sue them.
If I can't become me, then I'm really not free!

The world does not stop!
I just can't stop and think of things that wont come!
I have to do best and then some
With the cards dealt to me
No one will feel sorry for me
I'm not the only one here!
Stop crying your sorrow, no one's really free here,

I thought I'd be free!
That once out of my nest I could be decisive
And do whatever I wanted
No bills, no sins
No guardianships
Just myself out here!
But living in the woods is no way to live free!

I just can't be free!
My body's a mess and I have too many aches
Healthcare is not enough to cover all my pains
My eyesight and arthritis
Blood pressure and gastritis
I need machines to help me sleep!
Oh my Lords, why I've never been free?

The world just goes on!
I don't have to think anymore, 'cause I care no more
I'm just a leftover from times gone by
I am no longer shy
After all it is my life
You don't like it, take a hike
At my age and with my aches, I will become free!

This one came out really easy! Not serious. Just a little fun but with a message still in it! Hope you like it!

I believe you've hit on a powerful lesson. Freedom is often as much mental as physical or situational. Well penned

Life is short - I have no time to worry about what others think of me. There is too much to do and to see/experience/enjoy!

I am no longer shy
After all it is my life
You don't like it, take a hike

Great lines that I fully understand!
