A Good ManA Poem by Al R. ArceThis is as me as a poem can get!
I want to be a good man, one that stands for his believes
Unafraid to draw the line when things go really bad, 'Cause there's no in between when right and wrong combine I just want to believe I can become a good man. Yet I have my own things, that don't make ideals easy Reality can be chilling, I got people that depend on me I got bills to pay, and many burdens on my back I hate thinking that the banks, make me fall in betray. I think I'm a good man, 'cause I try to do things right Responsible to my kin, I do no harm to anyone. Is that enough? When I look the other way or simply just say nay To strangers gone astray. Are my believes a simple bluff? I want to do good things, hold my head proud and high To look you in the eye, and to live in inner peace But I can't, as I have to be the stone that my family lays upon I just can't become a pawn of the feelings of the soul. I may not be a good man, 'cause my strength is my weakness My mind is in disruption, I'm first a father and a husband, I seek forgiveness as I can't escape this corruption I am slave of my own meekness, I wish I could be a good man. © 2013 Al R.
