No One Here

No One Here

A Poem by CrimsonHints

The sun sits on my shoulders,
Burrowing its heat into my back.
I walk with careful footsteps,
In an outfit made of black.

Heatwaves flicker in my vision,
Dancing on distant plateus.
I heave heavy in thick air;
Every breath deliberatley slow.

I feel my baren body cracking.
I'll disappear into the sand.
The dust will welcome my bones;
To become a part of this cursed land.

My heavy heart tightens in my chest,
As I ascend jagged rocks.
My mind reaches out to the nothing,
As I stumble when I walk.

Dry, red eyes look dead ahead.
Grains push through cracked skin.
The smell of earth is all I know.
My voice carries on the wind.

But there's no one here to hear me.
There's no one here.
