Second Chance

Second Chance

A Poem by CrimsonHints

You've had a hard time,
Believe me, I know.
You've had a hard life,
Been on death row.

You'd have scavenged for pennies,
But had too much pride.
So you stole from cornerstores,
Can't say you didn't try.

Confused and alone,
You got by by cursing God.
Walking sunburned roads,
Wondering why you're so flawed.

You've been handed a second chance,
But these people are so hard to trust.
It's hard to adjust to all the white,
When all you've ever seen is dust.
