Embrace of Darkness

Darkness

I can feel it flooding my mind

I reach out for help

Why is there no one to take my hand?

Is there no one to save me from my hell?

I try to stay positive, it creeps back in

Shall I have to sit here alone

In eternal darkness?

No one understands my pain

The torture I put myself through

How can they when they haven't felt it?

I need someone to reach out, grab my hand

And never let me go

Until then, I will lay here

In the lonely embrace of darkness

You've touched upon that dark space that creeps into us all. The essence of the poem to me are the words: "I try to stay positive, it creeps back in" I think that is a big part of what the darkness is. It's as if things are set up against us. But that's the battle we must win somehow. Good poem.

Watch the first line (Feel) and I would change 'they' to 'others' in the tenth line since you are not specifying anyone.

wow, really got into the heart of lonliness and despair. feeling as though theres no one else who can possibly understand, much less care. this one spoke to me on several levels, as ive seen myself there many times. very well done.
