Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response.

There's something mysteriously disturbing

About a crackle, rubbing, and cotton

In the ear.

A child’s game of telephone,

A whisper, a puff of breath against

The lobes, the hissing sound as they

Pronounce sharp words.

Rice Krispies breaking the surface

Of a bowl of milk, the moist surface

Cracking hidden air pockets.

Harsh snapping of petrified ice cubes

In a freshly poured glass of water.

An empty sink of dish soap bubbles

Attempting to retreat down the drain,

Quietly bursting as they slide

Towards the void.

There’s something disturbingly pleasant
