Never An Absolution

Never An Absolution

A Poem by Crystal Lynn

In the letter you never wrote to me

You said you were sorry

You said you were coming home

But not to stay up too late

You’d hate to delay my dreams

In the letter you never wrote to me

You said you still had my picture

You said my smile was still bright

But the image was faded, worn and torn

You asked for another

In the letter you never wrote to me

You said you missed me

You said you didn’t think I missed you

But you were wrong, sir

In the letter you never wrote to me

I can imagine being both the narrator and the person from whom she wants closure. Been there. Nice universal concept.
