A Dragonsheart Story

Ninn wins over Death

There once a dragon that ruled her land, And all the dragons were at her command.  Well it was known how she would heed the call of those in their time of need. For many a lifetime the same it was done Till sadness to their realm had come. No more does she come with the rise of the sun the sound of her song is gone and now there is none. Yet still they listen for the sound of her wings their salvation in hopes she will bring Living out their lives with fear of reprise from enemies that threaten from distant skies. The old ones remember when once she did come and tell their children how it begun. Prayers are such that though dead she did not die for none can reason if it be truth or a lie. The legend says she will come at their call but many had seen her the day she did fall.  Her Gable had come and taken her away for over her death he had no sway.  Thus it is said she rest deep in her sleep, and Gable he guards her by her side in the caverns so deep.  No more of her blood is he willing to sacrifice.  In secret they whisper of what they did see, her Wolfmage had come and in rage he did mourn.  A promise he made and oath had been sworn.  He would find the Gregarrian ‘ere he rest in his grave and none had better get in his way.  The Wolfmage fell to the ground in his grief, and the howling they said was a most dreadful sound.  There on the ground Gables’ tears he did see, and it was known far and wide there was magic in the tears of a dragon.  Many watched but in fear stayed back and listened as the Wolfmage howled to his pack.  Touching the silver teardrops of Gable they blended with his Ninn’s blood he did vow.  The hunter had slain her but soon he would die, the Wolfmage would have his way and now the hunter had become the prey.

The full moon was rising again in the sky and slowly from slumber the dragon did rise.  Gable knelt quickly there by her side, kissing her softly holding her close.  Gable did plead for Ninn was his life.  Then he did watch the magic of Ninn and she spread her wings and took flight.  And soon he did follow her into the night.   She flew into the darkness and the stillest of skies, with her Gable winging near her right by her side.
