Christmas Time is Here

Christmas Time is Here

A Poem by Cree Nations

It's Christmas time again
It comes along each year
the season of hugs and cheer
and thoughts of Christmases that have been.

We've pulled the boxes out
and ornaments are all about
the lights are on the tree
and the Star is there to see.

The stockings are up
beside the tree
I wonder if Santa will come
and if he'll even remember me.

It's Christmas morning I hurry in to see
The presents beneath the Christmas tree
The kids rush in in unbridled glee
To see what lies beneath the tree.

Gifts are unwrapped
and the little ones are up and about
playing with toys and opening the books
I'll go and take another look..

Beneath the Christmas Tree
Santa left nothing for me.
I checked my stocking just to see
if Santa had remembered me
Imagine my surprise
To find a note for me inside
Santa left it there for me
He told me I needed to believe
because my presents were
there all around me.
I only had to look and see
All the gifts God gave to me
It's called my family.
