"Away"

"Away"

A Poem by Cree Nations

“Away”

Back then had you taken me away

What words might I have heard you say?

I love you, I want you, I need you?

As then and now would we feel?

I think of you often

And I feel your presence, feel your breath…

My heart still knows your touch.

Missing you is part of me now,

Do you even wonder how?

I could tell you, but I think you know

Souls can’t mate without permission

It’s not often fair, and not always known

Only with a silent song.

Take me away from here

So far away I don’t have to feel.

Take me away from here.

To that magic place where souls don’t mourn.

To a place where I am not.

Annie

if only there were such a place, but love often lingers and the hurt remains...

Deep emotional pain in this well written poem. Sometimes we just need to run to a safe place...a place where we can be someone else. Lydi**
