Three Strikes: Chapter 15

Three Strikes: Chapter 15

A Chapter by osnapitzlainee

My eyes widened, as my head threw back.
Surely enough, a blonde headed Cole was seen through the glass windows of the diner, chattering with a few of his basketball friends.
I looked down at my work uniform, feeling self concious.
I looked utterly stupid with a checkered mustard yellow and bright red apron.
And on top of that, my hair probably looked like a mess, especially with a stupid, red Debbie's Diner cap on.
"Kill me, now." I groaned, turning back to Scarlett.
Scarlett snickered and wiggled her perfectly plucked eyebrows. "I'm wondering why you care so much about how you look in front of Cole."
A gasp escaped my lips. "I do not!"
Scarlett raised an eyebrow, giggling. "Alright, well he's coming in now. Go take his order."
My eyes widened, as I bit my lower lip.
I heard the swift sound of the glass doors opening, and closing, as the voices grew louder in the diner.
My manager, Rob, nodded his head towards the left side of the diner, motioning me to take their order.
I sighed. "Do I have to? Can't you get Stacie to do it?"
Rob smirked, and shook his head. "Stacie's on break."
I groaned internally, knowing after this, I would be scarred for life as the loser who spent her time after school hours working at a diner.
I grabbed the menus off the counter, as I slowly approached the table where all the basketball jocks sat.
I placed the menus in front of each of them, and blandly asked, "How can I help you guys today?"
My eyes focused at the blonde figure, who did a double take towards me.
"K-Kendall?" Cole asked.
I waved lamely. "Hey."
One of the basketball jocks, who I recgonized as Adam, raised his eyebrows at me.
"Aren't you Jesse's girlfriend?" he asked.
I rolled my eyes. "That's me."
Adam whispered in one of the other jocks ears, as he turned towards me, smirking.
"What is Jesse doing with a girl like you?" the brunette jock asked.
I clenched my fists. "What do you imply by that?"
The brunette jock shrugged lazily.
"It's just Jesse would never go for a girl like you. You know, someone who works at a diner." he paused. "He would rather go for a blonde, with double D's. Like Jessica."
My nose flared up, as I bit my lip.
I knew if I fought back with a customer, I would be fired before I got this weeks paycheck.
Cole noticed my anger. "Guys, just shut up and tell Kendall what you want."
Adam scoffed. "I'll have a BLT with curly fries and a vanilla milkshake, waiter girl."
I narrowed my eyes, angrily jotting down his order.
I took all of the other jocks orders, including Cole.
"Is that it?" I finally asked, crossing my arms.
A jock who was sitting directly in front of me, winked and nodded. "For now."
I rolled my eyes, as I turned my heel to hand the order to the chefs in the back.
Before I took a full step, I felt a hand slap hard agaisnt my butt.
I gasped, as I jumped around.
The jock who winked at me, high fived the brunette jock behind him.
My face flustered with embarassment.
"Kyle, cut the bullsh*t out." Cole gritted through his teeth.
"What? I can't help if she has a fine a*s. No wonder Jesse's dating you, he obviously wants to get in your-"
"Don't even finish that sentence." Cole scolded.
The jock threw his hands up in surrender. "Whatever, man."
"Apologize to her." Cole instructed.
The jock rolled his eyes, and sarcsatically mumbled, "Sorry."
I breathed in and out deeply, as I turned back, storming back to the counter.
I handed the chefs their order, as I slumped down on a stool, facing Scarlett.
"How did it go?" she beamed.
"Amazing." I sarcastically remarked.
