I walked in the dim lighted hospital, as I followed Scarlett to the elevator.
She clicked the button that read '7', as the elevator made a dinging noise, and enclosed.
I took a deep breath in, trying to get rid of the anxiety that filled in me.
The elevator doors opened on floor 4, as a nurse stepped in, holding a closed, solid white bag.
Shivers sent up my spine.
What was in there? An organ? Blood?
The doors open, once again, on floor 7 this time.
Scarlett went out, and I followed.
Scarlett looked at me with her tired, gruesome eyes.
"Hey, Kendall? You okay?" she asked.
I swallowed the lump in my throat, as I nodded, staring at all the plain, boring white walls surrounding us.
Scarlett stopped at a room that read Room 731, as she twsited open the knob.
"Aunt Riley, I'm back." Scarlett called out.
I examined the tiny room, as Scarlett's aunt laid on a tiny twin sized bed.
Her leg was hung up high, and there were flowers and ballons surrounding her area.
"Scarlett, sweetheard, you bought a friend along?" she smiled.
"Hi, I'm Kendall." I stuttered.
All of the memories, watching my father suffer in the hospital two years ago came rushing back to me.
"He's not going to make it." Doctor Louise Andrews announced.
My mother dropped to her knees, as her eyes bawled out with tears.
I, on the other hand, was standing, emotionless.
I didn't believe Doctor Andrews.
She was lying.
My father was much stronger than that, and I knew he was going to battle cancer.
The same night, I visited my father in his room.
He was extremely pale, and tubes were connecting through his nose and hooked on his wrists.
A small smile appeared on his face when he saw me.
I settled the bouquet of yellow tulips on a small table next to him; they were his favorite.
"Hi, daddy." I smiled meakly, swalling the lump that was threatening to make tears spill out.
"Kendall, darling. Thank you for the flowers." dad weakly said.
"It's not a problem, dad." I assured.
Dad weakly reached out to hold my hand, as he gave it a tight squeeze.
"Doctor Louise Andrews told you and your mother the news, didn't she?" dad asked.
I bit my lower lip, and nodded.
I wouldn't cry in front of my father, I didn't want to show him that I was weak.
"How's your mother taking it?" dad asked.
A small smile spread across my lips, as the first teardrop fell out of my lids. "Not too well."
Dad lightly laughed. "That's typical of Wendy."
We stayed like that for a moment, a father and daughter moment.
"Listen, baby doll, tell your mother I love her, okay?" dad said, brushing my hair away from my face.
I nodded. "I will."
He smiled, with his brown eyes shining; which I inherited.
"I love you, too, Kendall. I'll be watching you from heaven. I'll always be by your side whenever you need me." dad promised.
The tears were spilling out now, they didn't hesitate to hold back.
"Dad, I love you, too." I cried.
"Don't cry, baby." he said, wiping away a tear with his thumb.
All of the sudden, there was a sudden beeping in the room.
Dad's grip on my hand loosened, as his beautiful brown eyes shut close.
"D-dad? D-daddy?!" I screamed.
My tears rolled down my cheeks, as I scared bawling.
"Doctor! Doctor!" I called out.
Doctor Louise Andrews and nurses came rushing in.
They checked his pulse, and his heartbeat on a machine.
Doctor Louise Andrews looked me in the eyes, and shut her eyes tightly.
"I'm sorry, Miss Kendall Merill."
