"Jesse, don't get that close to me." I quietly snapped.
Jesse's arm was around my waist the next morning, as we both walked down the hallway, acting like a couple.
Girls glared at me with envy, as guys high five Jesse, who was smiling c*ckily.
"So, Jesse, is this your new fling of the week?" a guy, who I recognized as Adam.
Jesse smirked, and pulled me in even closer to his chest, which had an overpowering scent of cologne.
"Nope, I'm planning on keeping her for a while." Jesse smiled, dreamily looking down at me.
I wanted to gag. This whole 'couple' thing wasn't working out for me.
But, the money that Jesse was willingly to pay me was far too good of a deal to pass up.
I forced a fake smile, as I felt Jesse slightly elbowing my stomach.
"Aw! Jesse, you're so sweet." I giggled.
I shuddered at my own voice when I giggled.
I sounded like one of those dumb bimbos who drape themselves over pathetic player's like Jesse.
The bell rang, as the hallways started clearing out.
As soon as no one was in sight, I pushed Jesse's arm off of my waist harshly.
"Jesse, when I said to not pull me in so close, I mean it." I spat.
"Well, if we are a freaking foot apart, how do you expect people to actually believe that we're a couple?" Jesse annoyingly asked.
I grunted, glaring at him. "How long do you exactly need to go out with me?"
"One month."
I took in a deep breath. I knew that this month was going to be the worse, of all.
When I got to first class chemistry, I was happy to see that their was a substitute.
The substitute was a young- very young, female teacher who looked like she didn't know what to do.
The whole class erupted into chatter, as heads turned my way.
"Isn't that Jesse's latest hook up?" a girl asked, glaring at me.
"She isn't even pretty. What does someone like Jesse see in her?" another one asked.
I rolled my eyes, and ignored all of the comments.
I went to the back of the room, and slumped down in my seat.
I sat next to my best friend, Scarlett.
Scarlett, unlike me, was extremely loved and well-known at this school.
She was taking part in the cheerleading squad, and was voted the girl who had the most beautiful smile in last year's yearbook.
I was so glad she wasn't like the other b*tches who thought they roamed the school because they had the newest MAC lip gloss.
Scarlett threw her blonde hair in a high ponytail, and stared at me with disapproval.
"What?" I asked, biting on my pen cap.
"You and Jesse Collins? Want to tell me what's going on?" Scarlett sighed.
I curled my lips, wondering if I should tell Lacey the truth.
Scarlett and I never kept secrets from each other.
I signaled for her to lean in closer, so no one could hear us.
"Scarlett, it's all just a set up. Jesse needs to go out me for a month, so he wouldn't have to give up his precious car to his friend for loosing a bet. Besides, I'm getting paid!" I gushed.
Scarlett nodded, raising an eyebrow. "Paid?"
I nodded. "Yeah, paid. Like, legit cash."
Scarlett's perfect, full, pouty lips turned into a smile. "How much?"
"Four thousand dollars for the entire month. I get paid each week."
Scarlett's mouth literally dropped. "F-four thousand?"
"I know it makes me seem like some prostitute, or whatever, but you know I need the money, ever since-"
Before I got to finish my conversation with Scarlett, a chirpy voice interrupted me.
"Kendall! Hey!"
I turned around to see Jessica.
Jessica was the head captain of the cheering team, and was rich enough to get surgery for her double D's and her bleached, blonde hair.
Why was Jessica talking to me?
She was the one who use to walk around in the hallways, "accidentally" bumping my shoulder.
She was the one who use to write on my locker, calling me a "loser".
"Hi, Jessica." I icily said.
"You look so fab today! So, listen, rumors been going around that you and my boyfriend..."
