Look BelowA Poem by Créatif WordWho am I to stand alone with my head between my legs? All my hopes and dreams shattered like broken glass on the floor My heart in pain like a harpoon shot through its center Whirlwind spinning my life out of control, hanging it at the edge of a cliff I stand at the edge of my life with the wind smacking me in the face I'm a god at the edge of his sanity Lost between protecting or standing aside and letting free will take its course The harder I look at the pit of my life The faster the bottom of the abyss rushes towards me I fear to be greeted by the stench of rotten dreams Dreams that were forgotten and had their bowels turned inside out Dreams with hollow, shallow emptiness engulfed in sadness My choices, my crossroads and difficult decisions To untie the rope harnessed around my life and fall Who will catch my corpse, my detached limps? Who tried to catch all those dreams lying at the foot of the world? I can’t take a chance in hope or love Snatched from my mother’s placenta My umbilical cord ripped violently exposing precious blood vessels The world just smiled at the crimson drizzle of a broken life As for me, my life rests in my hands Disjointed pharoses confusing truths of heaven and hell They try to gather hopes and fears But I tell them to look below for my detached limps Look below for my lost dreams Look below for my name, cut to shreds By the knives of cruelty, lies and corruption of society I face this wind full face and fear not the outcome © 2013 Créatif Word |
