In The Mind of A Juvenile AKA JUEVE is a story about a young man named Darius �" who was born into a troubled family.  He discovers that he has to use his incredible mind to go all out to save his somewhat dysfunctional family members.  Along the way to saving his family �" young Darius Johnson discovers much about himself.

 

 

Our story’s opening scene takes place in Atlanta, GA’s big hospital - Grady Memorial.  Night time �" where parents Phillip and Linda Johnson have just delivered their first born son.

 

Doctor

 

Mr. & Mrs. Johnson �" congratulations on the new addition to your family �" a brand new baby boy!!  The first one!

 

Phillip Johnson

 

(Phllip picks up the baby and says)

 

This my son ,,, He’s so special Linda. Let’s name him Darius !!!

 

Linda Johnson

 

(sitting up on the side of the hospital bed)

After four girls �" he is special ,,, Phillip this new baby’s got to be daring to get along with four head strong sisters.  Since he’s got to be daring �" I guess his name should be Darius !!!

 

Phillip

(He talks to the new born baby while still holding him)

 

Young Darius �" you have no idea what you’re in for and the wild ride you’re going to take with all of us ,,, (scene closes on a wide shot of the family members together talking an admiring the new baby)

 

 

These scenes from JUEVE are set in the Bowen Homes Housing Project where the Johnson family is moving into their assigned unit.  They move into the wrong unit and they confront the Jones family who also were assigned the unit.  There is �" well mad drama going on in the hood.

 

(Scene 6 �" Day �" No. 11 Hope Street)

 

Robert Jones

 

What are you doing in number 11??? Who are you ??? We came to move into number 11 … It’s ours and we ain’t moving nowhere!!!  No way!!! Now what ???

 

Linda Johnson

 

The Atlanta Housing Authority told us that this our new home ,,, We ain’t moving nowhere !!! No Way !!! Now What???

 

Mary Jones

 

Look woman �" look here �" we got this unit ,,, If you don’t get out of here right now �" right this minute �" well �" we’ll have the maintenance people and the Atlanta Police throw you out !!!  (the two women are up in each other’s face in a menacing way)

 

(The neighbors gather around to see what will happen or come up in this hyped up situation ,,, Members of both families get into a stand off against each other ,,, They are ready for all an all out slug fest over unite number 11)

 

(Scene 8 Day �" exterior �" Hope Street ,,, Police officers have arrived to check the situation )

 

Police Officer

 

What’s happening here ???  What’s this all about ??? (everyone begins to speak at one time)

 

Police Officer

 

Hey �" wait a minute ,,, One at a time please !!!  Lady (Ms. Johnson) you go first ,,,

 

Linda Johnson

 

Officer �" my daughter Stephanie  - got papers from the housing authority �" saying that we’re supposed to move into unite 11 here on Hope Street ,,, Show them the papers �" Stef ,,,

 

Stephanie

 

Look here officer (she pulls the papers out) I can show you that �" uh ,, Uh ,,, Wait a minute ,,, I made a mistake!!! I misread the papers ,,, It really says �" we’re supposed to move into no. 10 ,, Oh �" all this hoopla and fighting over a simple mistake ,,,

 

Robert Jones

 

Simple mistake ??? Please �" yall got all worked up and all up in our grillz when we showed up to move into our place ,,, Instead of you �" whatever your names is �" and your folks taking a good look at the move-in papers (he says this while up in her face) ,,, You copped a stank attitude about it too ,,, Like you was all that and stuff (the Jones family members voice their approval)

 

Police Officer

 

 

Okay - So this is just a misunderstanding ???

 

(A housing official has arrived)

 

Housing Official

 

Officer Erik �" I have the original copies of the both families move-in papers ,,, The Johnsons are to occupy unit no. 10 and the Jones no. 11 ,,, the mix up came when the copies were made on our outdated copy machine in the office ,,,

 

Police Officer

 

Now �" that this big blow out has been settled �" everyone go back to your homes and leave these people to finish their business ,,,

 

Stephanie

 

Officer �" we’re going to need some help moving all of our things out of 11 ,, and into no. 10 ,,,

 

Police Officer

 

That shouldn’t be hard ‘cause you just have to move next door ,,, You need to get going on this because the Jones need to get into their place ,,,  Can you all get this done peacefully without another fight ???

 

Ms. Johnson �" Ms. Jones

 

We’ll try ,,,

 

Mary Jones

 

Why can’t yall speed this thing up ???  It’s getting dark soon ,,, You need to get this all done asap !!!

 

Linda Johnson

 

Look Ms. Jones (she’s up in her face wildly gesturing) we’re trying to get out of your way as soon as we can ,,,  We’ve been at this all day ,,, You need to slow your roll ,,,

 

 

The scene ends with the two women almost fighting again ,,, Officer Erik is asked to return to Hope Street where he gives a warning and a lecture to the two women ,,, He says if he has to come back again �" he’ll take both off to jail ,,, The officer encourages them to try an get along since they are now neighbors ,,,
