Longing

We've all wished that someone who was far away was with you.

Even though you are far away I wish you were here with me.

We talk to each other as friends and lovers.

Sometimes it’s enough for the both of us but I wish for more.

I’m wishing and longing for you to be by my side.

 

I’ve known you since childhood and grew up until near teen years.

Then you had to move and we were separated.

We’ve told each other of our troubles and our sorrows.

But sometimes we wished we could hold each other.

 

Throughout our teen years we’ve been busy.

I with one plan in mind of life and you with your plan of life.

We barely talked for we went our separate ways finding others.

Hoping that we would find someone to love where we were.

 

It wasn’t enough. We’d always head back to each other.

Talking about the past and wishing for the warmth of each other.

We plan and think but things stop us from meeting.

Either one person has problems or the other has no way.

 

It’s finally past our teen years and into adults.

School is in the past and now the life of work awaits.

I still think of you and wishing you were here.

Letting you hold me in your arms.

 

I’m wishing for a day.

Hoping that one-day we will meet.

Maybe our emptiness will fade.

But our longing for each other will always be there.
