Next 8 second rideA Poem by Cre8tiveheartA quick peek at the lifestyle of a Rodeo Cowboy
300 miles in an old white caddie to the next 8 second ride; No guarantee of bringing home any money, but they still saddle up with pride…
Rigg’n bags fill up the trunk, Stuffed with each cowboys own gear; No more room except for a cooler, So they can ice down their favorite beer…
On their way out of town they top off with fuel, And stock up on coffee and dip; I’ve learned if they don’t have a drink in their hand, Then they’ll have a bulge in their lip…
Two in front exchanging stories; One laying in back with a banged up knee; Blue collar comedy plays on the radio, or an old Chris LeDoux CD…
Finally pull into the rodeo grounds, pick up their number as they sign in; Now concentrating on the ride ahead, checking their animal before it’s time to begin…
One bucked off, one missed out, the other placed in the top three; So when they hit the bar planning to get drunk He announces, “First round is on me!”
As the night wears on they start to determine which girl they intend to load; A brief round of slap ‘n tickle, Before it’s time to get back on the road…
Monday morning it’s back to work At a daily job that helps provide; Just one day closer to jumping in an old white caddie To the next 8 second ride!!! © 2008 Cre8tiveheartReviews
