Goodbye Day

Goodbye Day

A Poem by Cre8tiveheart

GOODBYE DAY

I sat on the swing in my front yard,
Watching the sun sink slowly down;
Indicating the day has come to a close
It will now disappear below the ground

But I have some time to watch in awe
Before it completely fades from sight
To witness brilliant colors displayed in the sky
Prior to being overcome by the night

The flaming orange of the sun
Mixed with fiery red so bright
Are crowned royally in magenta pink
A truly breathtaking sight

Beams of gold shoot through the clouds
The heavens put on a magnificent display
It is such a splendor just to watch
As God folds the day away

I hear the song of a distant bird
Crickets chirping in the dark
The laughter of kids playing hide n seek
And their dog giving up a bark

I bow my head and close my eyes
And then silently I start to pray
I thank the Lord for all he has done
And allowed me to say goodbye to another day
