Close Your Eyes

Close Your Eyes

A Poem by Cre8tiveheart

About looking at the REAL person and not just what is on the outside.

Close Your Eyes

Close your eyes and look at me

See the real woman that I am;

See how I find happiness

Let me help you understand…

Feel my passion and my joy.

Learn what makes me cry.

I’ll walk you through my private thoughts,

To help you understand the why…

Unlock the secrets in my voice

Each time you hear me speak.

Recognize the areas where I am strong,

Mentally note when you notice I am weak…

Don’t focus on my outer shell

My weight won’t reveal my spirit

Most men walk away before there’s a chance

Their shallow mind can’t seem to clear it…

My height can’t tell you how tall I am

For I am a giant when it comes to compassion

I stand head and shoulders above the rest

And for me truth is never old fashion…

The shade of my eyes are just a color

It should not matter if they are brown or blue

I look through them to find the goodness in people

Not to sit and judge them with my view...

Are your eyes still closed?

Shut them tight

You will begin to see what is real

Beauty begins from inside out

Don’t peak before I am ready to reveal...

Listen as my laughter rings and fills the air with joy

Does it sound like it is genuine to you?

Or do you think it is just a ploy?

My personality can’t be summed up

by looking at the color of my hair

But when I’m still beside you when struggles occur

It will be obvious how much I care...

I’m almost ready to unmask myself

Now that you have learned about me from within

I’m just a little nervous about doing so

I’m not even going to try and pretend...

You see, the whole time you have had your eyes closed

And learning about the me that is real

I have taken the liberty to learn of you

And I know exactly how I feel...

My eyes are shut too, but it doesn’t matter

I’ll care about you all the same

No matter your looks, I will still feel joy

When I hear you whisper my name...

I feel safe with you, like nothing could harm me

I have from the very start

From the first time we talked the only danger I felt

Was the knowledge you could break my heart...

Okay, open your eyes look at me

It’s time you see my face

Your expression is blank; feelings well hidden

No emotion, not one trace...

After a while you finally speak

There is hoarseness to your voice

You say if you could’ve created me any way that you wanted

Every feature of mine would be your first choice...

Blissfully happy that you see the real me

I know we are meant to last

We can over come most anything

No matter how difficult the task

I actually love every single line of this...one should always see with one's heart, not with one's eyes...for then, and only then, will you see what is truly before you...

Terrific piece of writing here...loved it and I'm putting it in my Favorites. Thank you.
