BelieveA Poem by Christina MariaFor those who still watch the midnight sky on Christmas, looking for that little glimmer to prove Santa Claus exists... :-)Distanced in a world of white. A pristine blanket on a sea of pines. The bitter silence of frozen life before me. It’s been so long since I’ve been home I’ve forgotten what it’s like to roam The beaten paths and starry dome that used to comfort me. The sorrow of my forgotten youth Squashed beneath a muddy hoof Blemished by the print of truth; I don’t believe. Yet time and again I return… Some part of me remains undeterred A tiny flame that forever burns with hope… That somewhere in the quiet Christmas dawn, with my eyebrows crinkled from a yawn The glimpse I glimpsed was there and gone… unexplained and tinged with awe… I still believe. ©culmer2006 © 2013 Christina Maria |
