I'm Sorry

An apology to one of my dearest friends..

Do you remember 3 months ago
When you didn't say goodbye?

Do you remember 3 months ago
When you never said that you were leaving?

Cuz I remember 3 months ago,
Missing you everyday.

And now,
You're back,
Today.

I thought that you were never coming back.

I thought that you were gone forever.

So when you messaged me again,
I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders.

I smiled wide and laughed to myself,
For you've always been one of my best friends.

And I knew that we'd be there for each other,
We'd be there until the end.

But so much had changed in 3 months time,
New people and emotions.

I didn't know what to expect,
And I don't think you did either.

We tried starting where we had left off,
But it was just....different.

Your feelings changed,
But mine stayed the same.

Did I toy with your emotions?
Did I cause you inside pain?
Is there any way I hurt you?
I need you to tell me.

And I'm truly truly sorry,
See, these words I write are truth.
Please forgive me, my best friend,
Because I need you.

Did I make you feel embarrassed?
Did I cause your heart to break?
Is there any way to help you?
I need to know today.


And I really just had nothing to say.
The fact that you were there,
Took my breath away.

And I really didn't know what to do.
The fact that you were there,
Made me stare at you.

But now it seems I ruined the day,
Just like I do with everything else.

I guess that you could call me clumsy,
Not just physically, but emotionally too.

If only you had told me sooner..
Maybe I could've prevented this.

It's not your fault, it's mine,
And I'm not proud of it.

I just feel terrible,
I think I might just cry.

I swear that this is truth,
To you I cannot lie.

Can you just talk to me,
And stop ignoring my apologies?

I need your forgiveness,
I need to know you're okay.

You ask me why I care?
Well, it's because you're like a brother.
You're like the brother that I never had.

And I don't want that to change,
You're my mega bff!

Don't you need me too?
Can't you see I'm sad?

I'm sorry for this poem,
It's not my best at all.

But I'm having trouble forming words
To just describe this all.

And if you won't forgive me,
Then I must say one thing.

I thank you for the friendship,
The friendship that I always need.

Your friendship is important,
I treasure it so much.

So please, oh please forgive me,
It's all I need and want.

New information: He has forgiven me, but I still would like to share this poem with all of you. It has so much emotion, and I think people will enjoy it :)

CG, I have to say that this is easily your most emotional and most relatable piece yet. You say that it is not your best, but in a way, it actually is, just because of the raw emotion behind every single last word. Usually when there are poems this long, they lose my interest(AGH ADHD!), but just the emotions charging this poem kept me reading the entire thing! I don't know who it is that you're apologizing to, but just know that regardless of who you are, you're always going to do something wrong at some point in life. I know that those moments can make you feel like the worst person in the world, but they don't mean that you are. No, they just mean that you are HUMAN, and by acknowledging that you were wrong, you are proving just how good(and how strong) of a person you really are. For you to be so young and still be able to admit when you're at fault means that you are pretty mature for your age. This is a great poem, and I'm glad to hear that the person has accepted your apology. :)

Wow lil sis that was amazing... Im so glad that he forgave you... Always remember that not everything is your fault. The ones who don't take responsibility for their actions are the ones who are a total waste of your time! I was once in the same postion & still to this day everything is still "my fault". Actually it was most of his... But he was stupid & didn't take responsibility for his actions... so to this very day I don't speak to him... He is a totla waste of time & he is a freak!

Very wonderful piece here. I especially liked how you shedded the skins of analogies and comparisons and just got down to the point and spoke out your feelings. It really feels crappy to know that you have hurt someone. That you are responsible for someone's tears. The guilt tears you up. And you'll do anything to just feel better. Great job here.
