Im Lost Without You

Im Lost Without You

A Poem by Cool Girl
"

A song inspired by C. Lee Battaglia's "The Blonde Girl"

"
I don't know where to go
Now
And I don't know how to smile
Tears always seem to make their way
Down from my eyes
Don't tell me this is life

Shattered thoughts and shattered dreams
Memories awaken me
Heart and soul now turned to dust
Oh
Why did you take her away from us

I loved her
She could see beyond my eyes of fire
I needed her
We would talk for hours and hours and hours
I kissed her
But then she had to go
And I didn't know

My best friend
The only one who thought I wasn't weird
I missed her
But know I really know how that feels
She was mine
But then she had to go
And I didn't know

I can't tell red from blue
Now
In my life of black and white
She was the only thing
That could brighten up a dark cold day
But now she is gone

Ghostly face and hands of bone
Sadly both of these are mine
No more feelings or emotions
Oh
Why can't she just be alive

I loved her
She could see beyond my eyes of fire
I needed her
We would talk for hours and hours and hours
I kissed her
But then she had to go
And I didn't know

My best friend
The only one who thought I wasn't weird
I missed her
But know I really know how that feels
She was mine
But then she had to go
And I didn't know

I haven't prayed since the day
She went up into the clouds
I haven't said a word
To anyone in this crowd
It's not fair
Why'd she have to go so soon
I'm blaming you

I thought I saw her face
Yesterday
In the window of a house
Her blonde hair shining like the sun
On a summer night
Her expression so polite

I tried to mouth a word
But the word was left unheard
Pretty day turned into to rain
Oh
And her figure began to fade
No
So I silently screamed
Oh
As the car just drove away
No
Curse that car that drove away..

After reading C. Lee Battaglia's story called "The Blonde Girl," I just had to write a song. This one goes to anyone who has lost a loved one. I hope you enjoy :)

This feels true & real-to-life for someone missing another, thru death. The expressions are not always neat & flowing, sometimes reading is a little jerky or thoughts jumping around, kinda like our minds do when under extreme stress. This feels unedited -- gut-level -- almost like the person is wailing the blues here, feelings coming out just the way they come out. I especially like the refrain starting with "My best friend" . . . such an endearing quality: "the only one who thought I wasn't weird" . . . I can feel how this narrator is feeling lost & alone, with nobody else in the world who "gets her/him" the way the best friend (now gone) did.

"don't tell me this is life" and "I blame you" are my favorite lines.

What a small world, I've read The Blonde Girl.

Well penned and thanks for the friend request.

Thank you :)
Very enchanting tale of love of a girl. "But then she had to go
And I didn't know", was a very nice phrase and it hangs with me. Well done. A gentle peaceful read.

I think many can relate to this. It is hard loosing anyone. I hate when people tell us to just get over it, when it is not that simple, ya feel? If you ever need anyone to talk to, I am here

You're welcome and hell yeah
Just so exquisitely simple if you get what I mean. Just superb. Reading this I could almost see the girl, and watch her fade into nothingness. I just have no words. You are the kind of poet the world needs. I am glad to have read it.
