I Don't Sleep

I Don't Sleep

A Poem by Cool Girl
"

Just read it..

"
I'm in my bed
Under the covers
Listening to what's around me

I hear a plane go by
And can feel the force vibrating my house
I immediately think
"The plane will crash and I will die."

A bit later I hear the wind chimes outside
They make an eerie sound
I immediately think
"Someone is going to climb up my window to murder me."

I eventually get lost in my thoughts
But then, I hear a noise coming from my closet
I immediately think
"There's someone in there ready to get me."

I move closer to the other end of my bed
Far away from the closet
I look at the hall
The dark dark hall

Again I hear a noise
This time from downstairs
I immediately think
"Someone's trying to break in. So that is how I'll end up dying."

I wait silently
Sit quietly
I don't let my thoughts flow
Just incase they can hear my mind
Its wheels turning
It desperately finding solutions
I lie motionless
For hours to come

Is this just anxiety
I don't know

Is this normal
I don't know

All I know is that
This is why
I don't sleep at night

thanks!!!!!!!
I can very much relate to this. I hate the dark and am very jumpy and a nervous wreck at night. I will pace sometimes with music on when I'm unable to sleep or work on my stories at odd hours of the night. I struggle with bouts of insomnia and am an anxious person when in unfamiliar surroundings or in the dark. You are not alone and I do not think you are crazy. I feel the same way at night...struggle with falling asleep and staying asleep. Being a light sleeper sucks. lol
Great write. So vivid.

I really appreciate your comment, my friend :)
Bring the real!
In all honesty, these thoughts still keep
Me up at night at times. So if you're crazy, I'm right there with you.
Fear is an amazing outlet, however!

Keep up the good write!

Gosh, I remember when I used to have to take certain pills (which I stopped thankfully), I'd be so afraid to sleep because my senses would become so heightened...hearing and seeing things that are not there. The fear I felt was beyond me. And I would fall asleep only when I'd see a flicker of daylight that would soothe me. But also as a kid I'd often be afraid of going to sleep. I try to think rationally at the noises that the house makes. But sometimes, some sounds are weird and unexplainable. You'd think they came from another world!

sometimes the mind can get carried away with itself
none of us know the fated hour in our lives for it to end

that is known only to God
so try not to think about it

just find happiness and solace in the good things in life
and the things that make you happy

Thanks for reviewing:) I will take your advice..
Aless, I have to say, I did not see such words coming out of you. The title completely drew me in. Why? Because I don't sleep much myself and can relate. The way you worded your paranoia was rather impressive, and what's funny is that I think exactly like this sometimes.

Admittedly, you did make me laugh on one or two lines, and I thank you for that.

Thank you for sharing!

No I wouldnt say you are crazy. We all have moments of paranoia and fear every once in a while, especially if we are by ourselves. I think many people can relate to how you feel with this poem. :)

Haha, thanks, Dan:)
journey of our thoughts is endless and that journey sometime truly make it happened that you can't sleep. Some people just look it as a problem but people like you can depict it in tremendous way.
