Monster In the Seas

Monster In the Seas

A Poem by Katie
"

Sometimes you have that monster to push you around

"

The Monster in Me

From bering seas,

To my mighty plea,

It is not enough.

He roars;

Spit,

Burning my eyes.

He crashes,

Into the ground.

A wave of guilt stings my skin.

I am drowning,

Crying,

Begging

In my own pool,

My own sea

Of tears.

The fish nibble my arms.

The whales call my name.

The eels slither around my neck.

But air bubbles,

Keep me alive.

My soul,

My will,

Keeps me afloat.

Do your worst.

For I,

Will not drown.

For I,

Will not cry.

For I,

Am the current.

Pushing you away.

Striving

For a better

Way of life.

Sounds like the description of inner turmoil symbolized by a monster in churning seas. There is very much the sense of one being overwhelmed. The last stanza, however, voices a determination to stay the course, and this is encouraging. My only suggestion would be to delete the commas after each "For I" in the next to last stanza.
