GreyA Poem by KatieDeep pain live underneath
Every therapy appointment,
She took off her skin. The zipper Down the spine Slowly traces down. She peels her mask off. Flesh hitting the carpet. Beneath her costume Was an ugly, hopeless body. Grey and black. Skin tightly against the bones. Scars and bruises. Mostly around the heart. Her hair fell Every bat of her eyelids. Sometimes The doctor healed her. Other times, Old scars reemerged. After an hour, She would zip Herself up. Her tan skin hiding secrets. Her brown wig. The reconstruction of her face. The chemicals she slapped on To make her eyes glow. She was not fake. She was scared. © 2018 Katie |
