Social mask

Social mask

A Poem by Andria Peterson

Your social mask

seeks external validation

and thrives on approval

for self-preservation.

A self-image,

a false identity

that lives in fear

and lacks originality.

The ego is sustained by power

and wants control,

but it lives in separation;

it's too much for my soul.

My soul wants peace, love and connection,

not status, survival and projection.

But did anyone tell you?

People-pleasing is unconscious manipulation -

a survival tactic from childhood to avoid alienation.

I want to break free

from the false identification,

all the fear, anxiety,

attachments and limitation.

After letting go, you will start to see,

the ego fades and your soul is set free.

Your true self will emerge -

the authenticity.

It's time to embrace the unknown

and your individuality.

You will realise

that we are all one.

Love comes from within;

it is reliant on no one.
