This is great poem on a subject that not to many people touch on. It's such a tough thing for many girls, and it's sad to see so many young celebrities influencing other young girls to starve themselves as well. This was poem was simple and easy to read, with even a touch of irony and humor, which I think works well. It is such a dark subject... the humor brightens it up a bit and makes it easier for people to understand the truth about it. Thanks for writing this, it is refreshing to hear a male's perspective on the subject. (I don't know why I'm assuming you're a man, but I can't really tell since your name is "Notorious Reviewer", so if I'm wrong, I'm sorry and please correct me :D).
Yes! Take THAT mainstream society! Wonderful idea - it's great to see someone speaking out against the crazy female standards set by today's media. It's so sad to hear girls who can't weigh more than 95 pounds insisting that they're fat. This was a very good idea and I'm glad you did it.
Two little grammatical mistakes: "scrawny" is spelled with a "c" not a "k" and the apostrophe in the line "When every child want's to be a skinny girl?" is unnecessary.
i dont understand why people do this. like i am skinny but like i eat like crazy i have a high motabalism but these stars are crazy i mean what the hell?
This is really good work.. simply in simplicity alone.. i always say the easier to understand and with clarity
the more skill involved in writing.. such poems that look simple to write are usually the heardest to
execute..humorous in a realistic yet thoughtful way that combines reasoning as a way of bringing to
light the subject..that most people can relate or have known in reflection the condition- there is
a great messege involved.. speaks to the masses in way of defining what it is to tell it like it is. Nicely done
So this is my letter to Keira Knightley
I am asking very politely
My hopes on her gaining weight is unlikely
She is now just skin and bones
What is wrong with her skin tone?
She looks like a ghost
I think I'm the only one on this page that disagrees lol. I'm not saying I'm for anorexia or bulemia, but being fat is just as unhealthy as being skinny and also looks disgusting. I hate chicks that call other chicks anorexic just because they are 115 pounds and work out and eat right. Not everyone that is skinny has problems...or whatever. Spain told their models they need to gain weight and America needs to tell it's citizens that they need to lose weight because we're by far one of the fattest countries in the world, thats disgusting lol. Anyway besides my opinion i did really like your poem good job. :)
Really nice work. Relevant, fun, insightful- a great poem. It hard to blame some celebrities for wanting to be thin, they'd be out of work in just the same way Monroe would never get hired. Still, at some point the relevant industries really need put three sandwiches a day requirement or something. Well Done, thanks for writing this!
I LOVE THIS!...this is really true...i am not skinny but still...i'm nto obese so...its not like i think that evreyone should be fat but they should be healthy...if you disappear when you turn to the side, that is not healthy!
other than the fact it's spelled Skeletor (you know, like skeleton) XD
this is a nice piece. i love the message
and i agree, those super-skinny celebrities that are the idols for how many hundreds, even thousands of young girls really need to gain some weight. seriously, what kind of example are they setting?
and people like Janice Dickinson (is that her name? the modeling agent/evil b***h)...who actually said she WANTS models with eating disorders...ugh. i can't even describe my deep and passionate anger. people need to start looking at the world realistically. girls aren't going to want to starve themselves forever, and if normal girls can't fit into the clothing lines because they're made for half-starved pencils then guess what...they won't buy them.
sorry. i'm beginning to rant. anyway, this is a nice poem. it seemed to me that every so often the beat skipped a little, but it's so minor that it really doesn't matter in proportion to the rest of the piece. it's a nice bit of work.
