Letter To Keira Knightley

Letter To Keira Knightley

A Poem by Crazy Cat Man

Keira Knightley and Nicole Richie
Used to be nice and plumpy
and now they're both skinny and skrawny

Mary Kate and Ashley Olson
Used to be so wholesome
and now the wind can blow them

What is happening to today's world?
When every child want's to be a skinny girl?
They eat a lil food then want to hurl

Little girls look up to their stars
They want to be skinny just as they are
So they refuse to eat then starve

I had a girl that thought she was too fat
but her small blubber was fun to grab
but she didn't want to hear that

Spain made their models to gain some weight
To join the catwalk the girls have to eat cake
A whole chicken they just ate

If Marilyn Monroe was alive
she would not be a model
They will tell her to go away and not even bother

Too many girls want to be super thin
I don't want to make love to a stick
So each girl must look from within

Is your beauty worth dying for?
You are starting to look like Skelator
I hope you start eating some more

So this is my letter to Keira Knightley
I am asking very politely
My hopes on her gaining weight is unlikely

She is now just skin and bones
What is wrong with her skin tone?
She looks like a ghost

I mean what is wrong this?
She looked like she came from the abyss
Oh the old her how much I miss

This is great poem on a subject that not to many people touch on. It's such a tough thing for many girls, and it's sad to see so many young celebrities influencing other young girls to starve themselves as well. This was poem was simple and easy to read, with even a touch of irony and humor, which I think works well. It is such a dark subject... the humor brightens it up a bit and makes it easier for people to understand the truth about it. Thanks for writing this, it is refreshing to hear a male's perspective on the subject. (I don't know why I'm assuming you're a man, but I can't really tell since your name is "Notorious Reviewer", so if I'm wrong, I'm sorry and please correct me :D).

Hey but, she isn't really anorexic, is she? :P Just realized. I think she's just naturally freaky thin. There are a couple of people like that.
Still doesn't take away from the awesomeness of this poem :)

I liked this! Particularly because I think it's so important to also hear a guy's perspective on it, because so much of who we are or want to be is socially defined. And that's not always a bad thing. The line about "I don't want to make love to a stick", really sprung out of this computer screen and assaulted me.
As someone who was brought up made to think that skinny is NOT beautiful, I still do struggle with it sometimes. The media is SO powerful. But we're as powerful. We need to stop this nonsense. Kudos for the poem, loved it. :)

Congrats to you for saying this! It is these famous people we look to and wish to be like, but Cindy Crawford once said, "I wish I looked like Cindy Crawford". After they photoshop, airbrush, and retouch a picture taken of her, it isn't even her. Great job by making this statement. Who knows, maybe Keira Knightly will read it some day.

Awesome! Can't wait to read it.
the nerd in me giggled at the Skelator line xD

Its a shame with how the media has been brainwashing women and girls into thinking anorexia is supa-sexay.

i like how this poem is sending out a message regarding a rather serious topic while still being witty and humorous ^-^

Hahaha, I can't stop laughing even though I don't think it's supposed to be funny. I guess it's the tone of it and everything. I like it though! It's true many girls are looking up to these extremely skinny celebrities as their role models. They end up thinking they're too fat, and just go starve themselves. This has gotten to a pitiful world I must say. I'm a few pounds over a normal weight for an average 5'8 girl, but I'm not going to hurt or starve myself over it. I love how I am :) Great job on such an amazing and true message!

This is a very serious problem and you captured that point well. But, i did laugh at a few of the lines. "Her small blubber was fun to grab" and "whats wrong with her skin tone?" Were my personal favorites.

This is very true, and anorexia has taken more lives than we care to rmember. When I was a teen, I had borderline anorexia . . . sometimes I wish I still did. And I agree with you--models look better when they're not sticks

Wow, this deep and very well-written. And it's sad (but true) that many woman and teenage girls think that being a size O in jeans and a size XS will make them more attractive to guys, when in the end it's just repulsing and...strangely alot like a 12 year old girl 0.o lol. I was one of those girls for a few years, and when I hit 90lbs. I realized it was time to gain weight and look like a woman :P anyways, thanks for writing this. (And I hope Keira Knightley gains weight too) haha
