Nice pic to go w/ this. You never fail to have an eye for photos. :). I like this one. From the "damaged girl" s perspective let me say this: Yes we may be thought of as beautiful, and told we an rule the world, but sometimes, maybe just sometimes all we ever wanted was to be a child. To not be damaged. The sad part of this poem isn't the damaged girl. It is her inability to cope w/ her issues.
Beautiful expression of restrained pain, by an author with a terrific sense of rhythm and grace in his words. And yes, m'dear, us damaged girls do eventually grow up and learn to survive on our own.
When all is said and done at the end of time, I think most guys that have ever lived will be able to look back and say that they have fallen under the spell of at least one pretty and damaged girl.
Some of them are not even aware of the fact that they are like that, always finding some reason why it did not work out with the one guy and why they had to find the next guy - telling themselves that they are just looking for love, but they simply have not found the right guy yet - having left so many rights guys in a trail of blood from their hearts still bleeding fresh.
Some of them are well aware of what they are doing and get that little kick out of it. They are cruel, twisted, and ever so perverse... yet, they are so pretty... yet, they are so pretty. We cannot help but want to save them, even though it may cost us ourselves. They toy with us, use us up, and then toss us aside.
So many pretty and damaged girls, so many hapless knights in shining armor - so dented, so dinged - over the years, as they find themselves chasing after each pretty damsel in distress. Yes, there is that opposite side to this piece - those knights that save the maiden, grow bored, and they move off to find the next... but this is not about that.
This is about those pretty and damaged girls, and you have described them and what happens very well in this piece... perhaps too well, I can picture a few I have known - knowing that silly and stupid me would rush off to try to save them all over again without a second thought to what it might cost me...
Damn that girl! lol Chicks like that give the rest of us bad names. You were very descriptive here. I was really able to imagine this girl. Someone most of us have met before.
Well, I was hooked by the title alone, but I do love it. All scratchy nails out and the distraught raw build up mixed with the plain feelings... And as Lucky Me (featured review) says, the sad part is the inability of the damaged girl to not cope perhaps, but actually face and sort the issues. Again, in that perspective, there's so many layers to it. You're hurt, and that shines through here, and it's good, it's really really good and well put and honest and just plain good... It sucks... I can just say there's usually pain on both ends, even if it's covered by that well set up wall :)
the fault is we look at the face and beauty a lot its so important we never heed her words and her talk so may know how pretty his soul is,its her inner side and beautiful soul that really hols my eyes its her inner wonders that i seek its that that shines and lasts, its that what makes me run after her ,for i know i have found a beautiful soul and not a shiny face ,then i am never interested
hahaha! 'bout damn time you guys suffered the usual girl-torment. I bet if we lined 'em up and counted 'em out there just might be 1/3 of the ladies ripping mens hearts out to 2/3 of the men in line. : )
heh.... but that's just me! Excellent write. Thanks for sharing!
I have to agree with Robert Luna unless love is just blind. ha ha We never tend to see what is really there till the end. Anyways you did a stellar job on writing this.
