So Many Suitors

So Many Suitors

So Many Suitors

for the Maiden's hand

so many take advantage

to be the next husband

So Many Suitors

sending so many flowers

some send many dollars

they win with their power

So Many Suitors

pretending to be real

their intentions are concealed

but it will be revealed

So Many Suitors

take fair maiden to a date

going out very late

but their hearts are fake

Too Many Suitors

for maiden to choose from

Many come from different Kingdoms

but she will lose her freedom

Many Suitors wanted St. Lucy

Mostly because of her p***y

But she will not give in

She kept her virginity

So what is a young maiden to do?

It's hard to hold on to herself and be true

So many lies so much deceit

Who can she believe?

I grew up with 3 sisters and 7 girl cousins ... Needless to say, I was outnumbered. Anyway, I know dating for women can be a struggle, a brutal one at that. It takes a strong will of a woman to resist so many advances, but it also takes a man with open eyes and a strong heart to see that. So nice work! I look forward to reading more.

Very well written and so close to the truth it is hard to believe! I remember growing up and being that fair maiden with all the same ole tired lies and nonsense. It is a jungle out there and this poem sheds a light through the leaves and shows life in the dating world for what it really can be some times.

And to answer the question Who can she believe?

She can believe in her self.

Least thats what I say anyways!!

Cheers!

Yea, i agree with Tonya too. These people, man, they're just out to get one thing, and one thing only. Some, only two things. Very well with your descriptions and wording. And im so very sorry about your friend. That's just so terrible that happened to her. Very good write.

I liked this because in a way it's a piece that stands up for women. It shows the harsher reality of men's true agendas.

Kudos.

I agree wholeheartedly with Blackbirdsong - the St. Lucy part baffles me as I know little about Catholicism but the description you have succintly and creatively written about how young women are treated and seen in the dating arena is right on. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year!

It is definitely a jungle out there, and so many men are out there with dishonorable intentions...of course some women are as well. I've always hated the whole dating scene, and it's definitely hard being out there again after a long period of time. Even being older and wiser, you have to be very careful.

Not sure if you are standing up for women here or saying they have all the power because what they have below the belt is what men are pursuing. Who can she believe? Hmmm....the question that plagues so many and the one that never really has an easy answer. Good writing. Lydia

I would guess you are speaking up for women in general, with this poem. Honest and straight forward is how I read this. Well written.

Yes, even back in the caveman days they were probably throwing rocks on women's heads to drag them off somewhere... now you're sweet talked and get the date rape drug slipped in your drink. It takes a strong woman to keep the advances at bay.

Some are told they are loved, etc. when the man only has one thing in mind. Not all men are like this, but the ones that are give everyone a bad name!

"So what is a young maiden to do?
It's hard to hold on to herself and be true
So many lies so much deceit
Who can she believe?"

Take care,
Stacy
