Hello Little Niece

A poem about my upcoming first niece.

Hello Little Niece
How are you doing
In your mom's belly?
You're mom says you kick too deep
She thinks you are dancing
But your dad thinks you're boxing
We first thought you were a boy
We were all wrong
Thats ok you bring us joy
You will be half white half Spanish
You're gonna grow up
Speaking Spanglish
When you grow up
All the boys wanna date you
But you have two uncles with tattoos
Who will protect you
We all wonder what you will look like
Will you have you're mother's blue eyes
Or will it be brown?
And hypnotize all the guys
Oh Little Niece
You give us peace
Now go back to sleep
You will come in September
Now that's a time to remember

I felt the excitement of the speaker in the poem over the imminent surfacing of the baby from her mother's womb. I also saw how tightly-knit the family is.
