The Fight Begins

The Fight Begins

A Story by CRP

To sister Jus,

It's me, Snow, and I am writing now while I still have the chance to, for you see, the workshop is in chaos. I'll explain the situation to you, but I must make it brief. I've told you before how we constantly bring in new elves to replace the ones that Santa ... sent to Death's door. Well, last month we brought in several new guys, and, as usual, they panicked after how they saw how the workshop was run. It always takes a month or two for the elves to adjust to the tyrant's reign. However, one of the callow elves didn't adjust and went as far as to defend Flower when Santa hit her! Everyone else did their best to ignore it, but that guy went straight up to him and demanded that he apologize ... of course, Santa didn't take well to that and started beating him. After Santa left, the elf, whom I later learned was named Ice, was struggling to move. Flower helped him, as she now was indebted to him for protecting her, and Ice had mumbled something to the rest of us. Flower helped us hear him, and spoke his words for him:

"Things cannot go on like this. Something must be done. How can you all sit back and take the injustice of it all? It is time to end the tyrant's reign and gain our deserved freedom."

Nobody spoke for a long time. One by one, elves spoke up in agreement, and declared that they would fight alongside Ice, including myself. One elf, Clover, shouted that fighting Santa was just plain foolishness, and we would never come close to earning any bit of freedom. Clover ran off, followed by some others. They all made it clear that they would have no part of any of this. Flower stated that this was just fine, for we should take no one on our side that didn't wish to be there. Thus began our plans to take down Santa.

Last week was when we all went head to head. It went far from well. Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect to make one confrontation with the tyrant and everything be good afterwards. That would be ideal, but far from expected. Santa and those that sided with him came prepared with weapons, and before we were even able to utter a word they attacked. Luckily, we came prepared and were able to defend ourselves with enough ability that most of us were able to come out uninjured; however, we did have two deaths - Flower and another elf that I didn't quite know. The fight sent a message straight through me: it is a good thing we are fighting back, to stop someone that could kill another.

Since then, we've had only one other confrontation, but it has been enough to put fear and determination into all of us.

I decided to send this message to you before it would be to late for me to be able to. I want to let you know how much I love you and the rest of our family. Please tell my friends and our family that I care deeply for them. Please send this message forward so that they all know. Know that I will think of you all, that I have not forgotten any of you since I have come to this hell.

I'll send you more letters as updates when I can, so you know what is happening ... and that I am safe. If you don't hear from me again within the year, I am afraid to say that you may have to assume the worst and ... we just might never see or hear from each other again.

Loving you always,

~Snow~
