I'll Show You a Door if You Can Walk Through it

I'll Show You a Door if You Can Walk Through it

A Poem by KL

I've seen those who come before me

with their faces on the

floor

and their shadows on their faces.

throwing

dice at every chance, unaware of the

subconscious gamble

infinitely composed of misunderstood fear

hiding from wandering eyes.

I've seen those who come before me

with their faces on the

floor

and their hopes in different places.

the temptation

cruelly licking their desire to know truth,

yet eternally

hidden behind our inhibitions

our limited sense of a limited reality.

and

I've seen those that come before me

willing to take my hand and

walk

to learn what I have learned

to smile in phosphorous light

and earn the title

'friend.'

This is brilliant. I admire people who can write the way you do. Who give the readers a new lesson in life, and remind them exactly how important that lesson is as well.

Few true friends in a life. I like the logic of this poem. My grandfather told me. "A wise man will listen and say little. Better to allow the words to be told and be a good friend who shows concern." A outstanding poem. Thank you.

This one touched my heart. There are many in life that earn the title "acquaintance" but few that hold and honor the title of "friend"
Beautiful and moving.

A lot of truth to these words. True friendship is a rare thing indeed, because too many are not willing to put in the work to sustain it. Great writing...

indeed earn the title of friend..to many not really up to the job..haven't read much from you lately, you must have been saving up all that inspiration because..this is great.

Really like this- I haven't been on WritersCafe all too much and haven't read your work for a while. It was a pleasant reminder.

Really like your little rhymes, and the first part especially- the tone was nice and conclusive and didn't feel forced at all. Really well done altogether.
