Las Palabras Del Dios

Las Palabras Del Dios

A Poem by KL

Those without eyes

see better in darkness.

Those without tongues

speak louder in crowds.

Those without feet

run faster in fields.

And those without

heads have them

floating in clouds.

Author's Note

KL
A woman got onto the bus we were riding from Estelí to Matagalpa, in Nicaragua. Now, we were used to seeing people come on to the buses and sell things, or tell stories about their sick or missing loved ones and then collect money. This woman, however, immediately began preaching about religion, spewing fire and brimstone and cursing all heathens and so on and so forth. She literally went on for over an hour... and then sold things.

What brilliant juxtaposition you display here to prove a point about typical suggestions of idealism. Those who are esteemed are so because they are, not because they can. Having eyes doesn't necessarily mean that one can "see", in the same way that preaching doesn't justify a relationship with God. Nice!

Beautiful contradictions- love the simplicity and power of each statement. And the author's note was just about as good as the poem. :)

Great job, as usual. c:

These words feel so much like proverbs... those saying that carry so much depth.. so many levels.. Beautifully profound write. And the story of the lady in Nicaragua? Oh my. Maybe she should have sold things first!
