ThanatophobiaA Poem by Sherratt133
When you lay down,
Tucked up warm inside your bed. When you hit that pillow, Lay down that sleepy head. Shadows and demons lingering in your doorway. You can try your damnedest to keep them all at bay. Unsure if they're real or just imagination. Dark thoughts within your mind, after a mutation. They're banging on the door, They're each waiting in line. Never fool yourself kid. Every man has his time. The child-like terror sits in your haunted mind. Traipses through your thoughts, your fears their most defined. Machinations of sinister parts, that sit deep within. Evil, wretched, ghastly things sit far beneath your skin. They're banging on the door, They're each waiting in line. Never fool yourself kid. Every man hears the chime. The black clouds in the night sky; they spell doom. It's not long now son. You'll be in your desolate tomb. Are we as real as we feel? Are we each a passing dream? I don't know the answer kid. That makes me want to scream. They're banging on the door, They're each waiting in line. Don't you fool yourself kid. Every man pays for his crime. Pray to your ignorant deity, plead to your "god". You're faced with endless slumber, no land of nod. Their's nothing to look forward to, no life after death. So take it slowly, and savour you last breath. They've broken through your door. They're standing over you. They're readying their jagged claws. Your life they will undo. You jolt up from your sleep. You were having a nightmare. If you even had a clue. You'd still be gasping for air. © 2012 Sherratt133 |
