The Unmerciful

The Unmerciful

A Poem by Sherratt133

I've got this thorn in my side,
The thorn is from her rose,
Thorn in my side from her rose I planted.
I've got this road-weary soul,
Weary from the painful days,
The days I've endured for so long.
I am the one who's on his knees,
At the heels of the unforgiving,
Apologised too many times to recall,
Seemingly infinite words spoken from bitter lips.
I've got this ache in my heart,
This ache from the time I left it,
Times been left for way too long.
I'm pushing for the dangled prize,
The prize is your acceptance,
The acceptance I've been vying for.
I am the one who's on his knees,
At the heels of the unmerciful,
Apologised too many times to recall,
Seemingly infinite words spoken from bitter lips.
At the heels of the unforgiven,
The Unmerciful,
My mentor?
My brother?
My friend?
No.....
