FLF (First Love Foolishness)

FLF (First Love Foolishness)

A Poem by Tamara (The Coy & Clear Poet)
"

Just a city bus ride in Hartford remembering the past. A little lazy writing that makes me laugh sometimes:)

"
Since the day he starred at me with his brown eyes,
He loved me.
He love me without knowing me,
The way Adam knew his wife,
He caressed my imagination,
Kissed my lips,
Complimented my hips,

I inspired him,
Made him want to use his powers,
 for good,
Things were looking that way,

My long brown fingers,
kneaded & pulled,
tried to stretch that,
 never-evolving mass of possibilities,
I began to see,
Though he loved me,
He would not become a man,

While I,
A few years younger,
Discovered,
 That I could hold attention,
  with my mind alone,
Smooth brown skin,
and wide eyes as a helper,

He called me fat,
Made poor decisions,
Ones that make mothers of color cry,
while young black men ,
are taken to prison,

I told him,
I write an okay poem,
 but I don't mail letters,
Nor do I make visits,
He kept on at that.

Not the end of the story,
There were "two" more years of,
"love" following the first,

The ugly end to the FLF,
Readied me for a love I never expected,
A love built on friendship,
Where every small growth is a new beginning.
