Hyde and Jekyll

Hyde and Jekyll

A Poem by Eliza Pleasant
"

Everyone feels as if they have multiple personalities. Some are wild, some are the incarnation of Evil. What is yours? Enjoy!

"
I sometimes feel as if I am Dr. Jekyll,
The one that is always innocent,
That is perfect.
The one that can hide a terrible monster.

When no one bothers to look,
Or when one simply doesn't care,
I get a dark gleam in my eyes.
My nails dig crescents into my palms.

My mind is filled with red,
Horrible, bloody red.
My breathing feels heavy.
I don't think.

I act.

I act the part of a good girl,
Who bears the weight of her family ties,
Who doesn't play with fire.
I act for an audience who can't read into the lines.

But fire can be fun.
You get a buzz.
A very dangerous thrill.
Anything can make you... ignite.

I hope I never... What?
So far, everyone is safe.
But I'm scared that if I'm left alone,
I may lose control of Hyde.

This is very enthralling! I adore the way this is laid out, and I like the way this appeals to most everyone, simply because people have so many personalities. This poem has a fiery, fierce aspect to it, and I look forward to reading more of your work!
