Hatians Suffering on the News

I felt a chill right through my heart,

And I remember feeling glad

To arouse emotion from such a part,

I never thought I had.

 

I felt a warmth right through my heart

And I remember feeling mad

At myself, for such a start,

Enjoyed by thoughts so sad.

 

I felt their grief inside my heart

That grief I couldn't bear

Saddened, now, that newfound part

I'd always hoped was there.

 

I felt their pains inside my heart

And forced it to go numb

And I destroyed that very part

I never wanted one.

i know that feeling too. glad for the sake of being able to feel something, other than the numb or the dulled...but still sad...i liked it! good work
