I'm Not Ready

I'm Not Ready

A Poem by CourtniRenee
"

My best friend is in the hospital again

"

You are perfect

in your imperfection.

I planted a flower in my backyard

and named it after you.

I laid next to it and traced

the red of the petals.

Listen! The wind is your uneven

heartbeat.

The sky is glass, smooth and

clear as the breath in your

battered lungs.

You, my dear friend, have

waited for death since you

were sixteen, but now death

will wait for you.

I will name every flower your

likeness, if you will not leave

until we are both ready.

what a wonderful poem for your friend, the idea of naming "every flower your likeness", just makes us feel even more aware for your friend and the love you share.... I hope she gets better and your friendship last forever....

I'm really very sorry for the circumstances you and your friend is facing right now, sending prayers for your friend's recovery... I have recently went through a situation like this and I can tell you I can feel the emotions of this write... There can't be a more painful situation than to see the people in our life going through such pain... Your way to present it in a soothing way is very touching... Very well done frnd... God bless you and your frnd...

Sincerely
Dhiman

This one left a smile behind... immortality does that sometimes.

You wrote a "timeless" piece... immortality.
WOW! WOW! And WOW! This is one of the most powerful heartfelt messages I've read lately! I'm very touched by every deep feeling you share here . . . it's so clearly sincere & honest. I have no idea what it must be like to be by the bedside of a best friend who might be leaving this planet, but you've done an amazing job of showing us one possibility of how it might feel. I love the way you have woven bright hopeful elements with the harsh realities of being sick. The final line is a kicker -- so creative & so uniquely stated. If only we could bargain with fate.
