Application for HeartbreakA Poem by Courtney EdwardsApplication for Heartbreak
Date of Application:
Name:
Let it be known that this is no specific being. Myself, or you, as we have all been broken. Shattered, at the least. It could just be me. Never mind it has to be. Since when I was broken there was no one, just me.
Address:
Let me say that I've tried to grow this estate, this sustainment of life within my chest cavity. The endless cycle of blood through these avenues, streets, and boulevards. My veins, my arteries, they flowed for you. And since you've been gone they cease to flux at such a rate.
Contact Information:
The estate I attempted to grow was once a home. You could call and you'd here my voice and theirs. If I wasn't present you'd find them within. But now its only me, myself and the remnants of someone left behind. Take my apology as I seem to have divulged too much information. You can reach me here, just me.
Experience:
I've witnessed it, delivered it, but more importantly I've lived it. To the marrow of the bones in my body it has rocked my core. As have many others I presume. But this is my application. The application for the sorrow and love that I no longer know. No longer understand, and that I may very well deserve. Or that I may not deserve. I'm not sure since I've filled this application out for a position that does not exist. A position that so many apply for, so many offer, and so many receive; unfortunately.
...I'll be clocking in tomorrow
