Letters From AfarA Poem by Courtney EdwardsA Letter today A letter tomorrow A letter a week A letter a year
I reveived a letter today, from you. I smiled to myself but don't call me a fool.
Lucky is the understatment, alone I've been so long. Forever alone in this world, nearly everything was going wrong.
But this, this felt right, despite the heart torn emotions Every day you'd put a smile on my face that would show so bright.
Looking forward to the day I'd see you again, I anticipated that letter, again and again.
A Letter today A Letter tomorrow A letter a week A letter a year
I send letters in response day after day. I'm starting to get little in return, My worries begin to carry me away. When others turn my back I begin to Yearn.
You're words are still comforting, The little I am receiving You confess you're love for me But It's just not enough you see.
I won't lose this feeling, I won't lose you, Why is it so hard now to get in touch with you.
A letter today A letter tomorrow A letter a week A letter a year
Now I receive no more letters from you. My love is lost, a motive unfound. I thought your love for me was just as profound.
I guess I was wrong, but let me be on my way. Alone once again, looking for another way. © 2013 Courtney Edwards |
