A Letter in Time

A Letter in Time

A Poem by Courtney

To my past self from the future,
I promise things will be okay;
You will face unspeakable things
But things will be okay.
Happiness ensues on the horizon
But sadness waits as well.
There will come many trying days
Where you wish for it to end,
But it won't.
And thank God it didn't.
You're stronger than you know right now,
And only through acceptance can you move on,
But until you reach that final resting point
You will have to just hold on,
And wait,
And never let go of His hand.
No matter how bad things may seem,
Know that He can make no mistakes,
And if it seems you're at a tipping point
Just hold your breath and let yourself rebalance.
You'll know if your life is beyond repair,
But that time has not yet come.
I write you this letter to tell you not to run.
Live through the pain and tears,
Embrace those who wish you well,
And know that everything will turn out okay.

At least until this point in time,
For I cannot see into the future.
But you will live on and reach me;
We can face it together.
