RamblingsA Poem by Courtney
On my knees I shall offer up my breath
In praises for the lost souls drifting 'round My grounded frame, who wait but for my death To join them and wander in silent sound Destined to ever roam these barren lands Alongside ghosts of names with no faces; Who laboured lives left their souls with scarred hands Unable to reach earthly embraces From those who mourn the chasm in their beds. In agonized song, they pour out their pain By weeping oceans of lover's regrets In crashing waves, unable to refrain From drowning til they see their own corpses And know how lonely loneliness can be. I close my eyes to take in the forces Of the harmonized wails surrounding me Filling the air with dissonant sadness. My praises turn to match the mournful song As I succumb to maddening madness That I have harshly fought off for so long. Until the day when all these tortured souls Reunite their broken hears once again, The mooning, reverberating echoes Will roar in chilling desolation Unbeknownst to those who don't know the pain Of tear soaked pillows under sunken cheeks. Of the hollow ache that is the heart's bane Or of sobbing sorrows for endless weeks At pure white walls that have no ears To calm the loneliness. The end waiting. Hoping for a light that never appears; Destined to this sad world of self hating And here I sit; broken, naive, breathing. Seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, tasting The confusion with its ever reaching Grasp on the dull hearts of people wasting Away. My praises now but a dry croak From a parched and uncertain throat. Shattered, My eyes are all that have not broke And I can see that pain was all I wrote.
