Humanity and Me

Humanity and Me

A Poem by Courtney
"

This is.. Half the ramblings of my 5 AM, sleep deprived mind and half what was an attempted poem about how close evil is to each person and to breaking through to humanity.

"
As the Black Death enraptures you
In its sticky web of lies,
You find your mem'ries slipping through
The cracks. You will succumb to demise

And that is to be understood.
You slowly forget your past
Like no amount of drinking could.
Yet this time the feelings last.

Unending bliss awaits you here.
Do not be afraid, but take
My hand and bring an end to year
After year of all the fake

Faces you pass on ev'ry street.
Skeptics try and guide you wrong
By giving you thoughts that deplete
What you have known all along.

Rapture will bring you a new hope.
The "Lies" they speak of remain
To be the thoughts that do elope,
Allowing their fear to reign.

It overpowers their instincts
Which is why you should trust me.
Every time a person blinks,
They forget what truth should be.

A tender, nurturing life is
What they view to be "Black Death."
A hypocritical man says
Wretched words with bated breath.

Exaggerations reign supreme
When people only see the lies.
Things may never be what they seem,
Yet no one may realise

That truth is what you make of it.
Although my hand drips black ink,
You'll find your hand a perfect fit
That will bind the severed link

Between Humanity and Me.
