Hopeless Valor

Hopeless Valor

A Poem by Courtney

Remember, it's almost finished.
What you know and who you are
Will be completely diminished,
And blink out as a dead star.

Ev'rything ends in disrepair,
Despite what you may intend,
And what you believe to be fair
Loses meaning in the end.

The biggest lie you find to be
is hope above all the pain.
Just when you think that you are free,
Your endeavors go in vain.

Accept the hurt before it comes.
You won't be disappointed
When you understand that pain numbs
'Fore it can be anointed.

Hope is trivial at its core.
There is nothing to be gained
From laying down pointless faith or
Leaving action unordained.

As there is no use acting out
On a truly hopeless cause,
Do not give heed when you're in doubt:
Hope allows your judgement pause.

The trap remains in innocence
With seemingly good intent.
It plays upon your basic sense
Until your will is spent.

No matter how much time goes on,
The moral stands, in Valor, true;
Despite the battles fought each dawn,
Hope will never be there for you.
