The Lie

The Lie

A Poem by Courtney

Mouth open wide
Yet nothing comes out
Demons inside
Come calling to shout

They cover your voice
To never be heard
Monsters rejoice
With not but a word

Cannot be outrun
Escape at no end
The deed to be done
True outcome depend

Looking up into the sky
To see the beauty of the Lie

Great to read a poem with a sonnet format. Was this your intention? Shakespeare used this particular structure and rhyming scheme... iambic pentameters... he wrote 10 syllables per line but the shortened lines also create stanza with echoes of haiku without again the specific syllabic restriction.
